Biography of St. Mauritius:
St. Maurice was captain of the soldiers belonging to the legion "Theban" during the Emperor Maximian. When he gave orders to persecute and kill some Christian peoples of the Valais, the soldiers refused to perform any act of violence against their brothers. In addition, they also strongly opposed to sacrifice to the gods. Together with all the other soldiers, St. Mauritius was martyred.
