Biography of St. Desiderius:
Desiderius was born in Genoa (Italy) and became bishop of Langres in France. As the Vandals assaulted Langres, he tried to protect the inhabitants of his town and was slain in the middle of the battle-field. His relics are in the church of St. Magdalen in Langres. Many towns and places in France are called after Desiderius of Langres. His feast-day is on the 23rd of May, same as Desiderius of Vienna.
