Biography of St. Maximilian of Lorch:
Maximilian was born in Austria and gave all his goods and properties away in order to go on a pilgrimage to Rome. There he met Pope Sixtus II who sent him to Lorch where he worked as a missionary and founded the church of Lorch of which he became first bishop. Maximilian was decapitated by a Roman Prefect during the reign of Emperor Numerian due to his refusal to abandon Christianity and celebrate a pagan festival.
