When did Pope Lucius I live: 200 - 254
Biography of St. Lucius I:
Lucius was born about 200 after Christ and nothing is known about his family. He was elected pope in 254 but was soon banned from Rome by Emperor Gallus. After the accession to the throne of Emperor Valerianus, Lucius I was allowed to return. As his predecessor Cornelius, Lucius I had to struggle against the schism of the antipope Novatian. It is known that Cyprian of Carthage praised Lucius' courage of accepting Christians who had denied their faith during the persecution of Christians during the reign of Decius. Lucius died in 254.
