When did St. Rudolph of Gubbio live: 1032- 1064
St. Rudolph was born in 1032 and became a benedictine monk. He studied philosophy and theology, as well as the latin language. After he was consecrated priest, he led a very austere life-style based on prayer and penitence. Together with his mother and two brothers, he founded the monastery of Saint Bartholomew. At the age of 30, he was consecrated bishop of Gubbio. Rudolph had a close relationship with Petrus Damiani, who would eventually write down his life story.
