Biography of St. Gerard Sagredo:
Gerard was born in 980 in Venice and became a Benedictine monk who served in the Kingdom of Hungary. There, he educated the son of King Stephen of Hungary, Emeric of Hungary. As Bishop of Casanàd, he had great influence on the conversion of Hungary to Christianity. During the Vata pagan uprising in 1046, Gerard was martyred in a very cruel way. Nowadays, he is one of the patron saints of Hungary and was canonized in 1083.
