Biography of St. Cletus:
St. Cletus was born in Rome and is known for having served as a Pope for about 12 years, from 76 to 89. His name was usually common among slaves, which is the reason why people believe that he was a freedman of Greek origin. He followed Linus and Petrus as bishop of Rome and was apparently martyred under Emperor Domitian on July 13th.
