Biography of St. Vigilius of Trent:
Vigilius was born in 353 in Trento (Italy) and studied in Athens (Greece). After his return to his native city, he was consecrated bishop. Vigilius put great efforts in helping the poor and spreading the faith among pagans. He was a strickt opponent of usury and build several churches. Angry pagans stoned him at the Lake Garda, because he demanded that a statue of the pagan god Saturn be pushed in the river. Nowadays, St. Vigilius is venerated especially in Trent and in the region of Tyrol.
