When did St. Polycarp of Smyrna live: 69- 155
Polycarp was born in 69 and was apparently converted by John the Apostle and then became bishop of Smyrna (Turkey). Polycarp developed into a well respected Christian leader. As a conflicts arose, about which day Easter should be celebrated on, Polycarp was sent to Rome to Pope Anicetus. In Rome, he was arrested for being a Christian under Emperor Marcus Aurel and killed by a Roman soldier in 155.
