When did St. Esther live: the 5th Century BC in Persia
Biography of St. Esther:
Esther, an orphaned relative of the Jew Modechai, married the Persian king Assuerus who had sent away his former wife. Thanks to her courageous efforts with her husband, she prevented the destruction planned by the Grand Vizier Aman. A book in the Old Testament is named after her and is based on historical memories of the time when the Persians threatened with the destruction of the Persian folk. The Jews celebrate the Purim holiday to remember the heroic rescue of the Persian people through Esther.
