To meet the needs of all our customers, Demi Art offers the possibility of customising the size of the block of wood, specifying the desired WIDTH , HEIGHT and DEPTH in centimetres.

The price per cubic meter gradually depends on the depth and width:
1 ) max. 9 cm deep and 30 cm wide
2 ) max. 9 inches deep and over 30 cm wide
3 ) max. 18 cm deep and max. 30 cm wide
4) max. 18 cm deep and over 30 cm wide
5 ) over 18 cm of depth regardless of the width

With the exception of the wooden blocks with dimensions max. 9 cm deep and 30 cm wide, all other wooden blocks are made out of several tables glued together in order to ensure the resistibility of the block and prevent cracks that could endanger the entire job of carving.

Linden wood is easy to work with, compact, but not too soft so that both, deep as well as lighter excavations are allowed and details are easy to depict. The pine-wood is also soft, but contains, in contrast to the almost knot-free linden-wood many branches. It tends to darken over time, but it spreads a pleasant fragrance that many appreciate.

When did St. Januarius live: in the third and fourth century

Biography:
Januarius was born in Benevento,Italy, into a rich family and became priest at the young age of 15. At 20, he became bishop during the Persecution of Christians under Diocletian. He saved many Christians from death by hiding them. Unfortunately, he was caught while visiting Sossius and was arrested. Januarius was sentenced to being thrown to wild beasts, but because these didn't harm him in the least, he was beheaded at the Solfatara crater near Pozzuoli. His blood which was apparently saved by a woman called Eusebia,is kept in a glass ampoule and liquifies three times a year.

Patronage: St. Januarius is patron saint of blood banks, volcanic eruptions and of the Italian city Naples
