Biography of St. Gunther of Bohemia: Gunter was born in a noble family and was related to Emperor St. Henry. Until he was fifteen, he led a worldly life committing many sins. St. Gothard convinced him to convert to Christianity and Gunther even became a monk at Hersfeld monastery. He donated all his goods and went on a pilgrimage to Rome. After his return, he became monk at Niederaltiach (Bavaria). Because he had founded the abbey of Gollingen in Thuringia, he insisted on becoming abbot. Unfortunately, he was not very successful as an abbot and became a hermit. He died in Bohemia and is remembered for his great eloquence and his good preachings.
